In the Aftermath of Ft. Hood

All I know is that 12 people are dead and 31 are wounded. I don't know why. You don't know why either, dear readers, although your heads and hearts may be swimming with suspicions and theories.

A military court will sort out matters of means and motive, crime and punishment. The families of the fallen will have buried their dead long before justice is meted out. Nothing will bring them back, and only time may prove to ease the pain. I pray it will.

I posted this as a comment on Facebook. I'll repeat it here and leave the speculation to others.

God keeps a tight rein on pure evil, and as a result it's actually quite rare. But He gave us free will bottled up in fragile vessels, and that volatile combination creates a lot of bugshit crazy in the world. The laws of man can punish it, but I don't see the Almighty issuing refunds for the imperfect craftsmanship of His creation.

  1. Evil comes from a lack of God, not an imperfect creation. A perfectly good engine will blow up if no oil is put in it! Don't blame the engineers who design the engine just because I forgot to put oil in it.

God made man in His image, but that free will thing allows us to depart from God.

Evil is the absence of good, not the opposite, just like darkness is the absence of light, not the opposite..

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
