I Want an Awesome Mix Tape

OK, blogreaders, I have an assignment for you. It's been a while since I made a mix tape (yes, I know, they're mix CDs now, and yes, I know that mix CDs are now playlists, and this isn't about how damn old I am, so let's move on).

I don't listen to as much new and/or different music as I used to, so I'm feeling a bit out of it, musically speaking. Precocious Daughter and my Rambunctious Nephews keep me sorta-kinda tuned in to what's playing on the radio, but there's more to good music than the latest Guy Who Still Thinks It's Cool to Sing Like Scott Stapp (Including Scott Stapp).

In my life I've been fortunate to know wonderful people who have turned me on to all kinds of good music. Some of it I've loved, some of it I haven't, but I can't say I've ever been sorry to have been exposed to a particular song. (Yes, even "D.O.A" by Bloodrock - don't say I didn't warn you.)

So help me out here, blogreaders. Send me the name of a song (and artist, of course) that I simply must put on my new mix...technology thing. I promise that I will try to track down and listen to every song suggested - but if it's obscure or on some small label recorded out of your cousin's sun porch, a link to it would help. I'll tell you right now that I loathe contemporary country music, so I dare somebody to send me a track that will challenge my opinion; but I welcome any genre of music. Also, it can be a new song or a classic - educate me.

You can post your suggestion(s) in the comments section, or to my Facebook profile if you're a friend, or just e-mail me. If I get a good playist's worth of songs, I'll publish the track list here.

Get cracking, people!

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
