Christmas Eve Eve, 2015

Regular readers here know that this Christmas is my first as a single woman and single mom.

You can read more about that here.

And if you're not a fan of Knot So Subtle, please PLEASE
check it out.  By women, for everyone.
Where I'm sitting, it's December 23rd, the night before the night before Christmas. Precocious Daughter is on a date (seeing Krampus, of course). I had yet another long, long day of working my ass off at my IRL job without appreciation (or compensation - looks like 2015 is going to pass away without a performance review/raise). After work I ran a few errands - OK, I bought a crap-ton of little giftettes for the people I love the most - and put enough gas in my car to get me through the holiday weekend and began to wrap presents for the Big Day. Oh, and had leftover frozen pizza for dinner.

Now I'm listening to Elvis' first Christmas album and tapping away on my laptop.

Life is pretty freaking good.

I have to work tomorrow, Christmas Eve. In theory, only until noon. But really, until FedEx shows up with several of PDaughter's presents, which I ordered from Amazon, never dreaming it would take 11 days for them to be delivered. FedEx says they'll be delivered by 8:00 p.m., which fills me with trepidation. On the other hand, I'm so goddamned busy at work that I could very well work until 8:00 p.m. and still be behind schedule. Did I mention the part about my boss blowing off my performance review so that I get not a penny of increased salary in 2015?

Abe says, "No pennies for you.
Bitch."

Just wondering.

Anyway, none of that matters. Because tomorrow is Christmas Eve. PDaughter and I will listen to seasonal music, or watch a Christmas-themed movie, or something. I will cherish every moment with her, because Christmas afternoon, she leaves to spend the rest of the holiday with her father. That's fine.

Shown here: Fine.
I like Christmas. Even if I were completely alone, I would still like the holiday. But I'm not. I have family and friends who love me, And if I get not a single other gift, that would be enough.

But I think PDaughter bought me some clothes. Oh, and Drummer Boy gave me something...wrapped in Hanukah paper. That's how he rolls. It's under the tree until Christmas morning afternoon whenever I see him.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas, whether you're Christian, atheist, or some fucking pagan religion. Because I love you all.

Let me know what you do to pass the holiday. I'll let you know the same.

  1. I love you, Chuck! I'm celebrating by downing the bottle of vanilla cinnamon Bailey's hiding in fridge and remembering that one day soon the FIL will be out of my house, and soon I'll be able to do what I want when I want because it's within my own house. I love you madly, girl!

    1. The words "Vanilla cinnamon Bailey's" have got my undivided attention, whatever the phrase means. I only know Bailey's Irish Cream.

  2. I hope this doesn't mean all of the gods are returning. Things are bad enough here already!

Merry Christmas anyway, and enjoy the Christmas music.

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
