Moonlight...I Guess

Did you just watch the Academy Awards?

I just watched the Academy Awards.

I just watched no less than Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway announce that La La Land had, as expected, won Best Picture.

And then I watched as Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel came onstage to announce that actually, no, La La Land had not won Best Picture. Moonlight had won that top honor.

What.

The actual.

Fuck?

I've never seen anything like this, and I've been watching the Oscars religiously for more than 30 years.

Moonlight, you guys, is an amazing movie.

I thought La La Land would take Best Picture, but Moonlight certainly was as deserving.

What the hell just happened?

Fake news?

I don't know.

More on this - probably much more on this - to come.

But Moonlight won Best Picture.

Good on it. Beautiful movie.

La La Land...also beautiful. But...

Wow. Much more on this to come, Drunkards.

Wow.

  1. Many Oscar winners thank their fellow nominees and acknowledge that any one of them could have won. But I guess it's too much to hope that on this one occasion the votes were split and that for the first time ever two films won Best Picture.

  2. I wasn't watching it (it interfered wi the Zombie Apocalypse), but I'm seeing plenty about it this morning.

Every time the topic is brought up, I picture Beatty and Dunaway getting shot up in "Bonnie and Clyde."

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
