Beans Are Not Erotic. But They Definitely Have Their Uses.

Right now, at this moment, there is nothing I want so much as a can of cold pork and beans.

Is that weird?

This is pr0n to me right now.
You know what? I don't have the energy to care if it's weird. My weekend was long and strange and stressful, and self-care is high on my list of must-haves. Specifically, self-care via comfort food.

And to me, there is nothing more comforting than cold pork and beans.

Don't you dare freaking judge me.
This weekend, I saw my new home for the first time. I responded to dozens of requests to show my current house. I went to a party, which is always terrifying. I had a terrible fight with my spouse over the offer we received on our home. I distanced myself from everyone who claims to love me, because I can't handle that stuff right now.

I subsumed my right to be happy about my future into my need to feel awful about my present.

Possibly it's a coping mechanism.
As a result, I need cold pork and beans. Maybe there is something in your life that serves the same purpose as cold pork and beans. I hope so, because we all need that source of comfort and unconditional love.

Mine comes from cold pork and beans.

If I can indulge tonight, tomorrow I may discover good news about my troubles.

If not, I may need to purchase more beans.

Whatever it takes to get through it, that's my motto.

What's your go-to for self-care?

I really want to know.

  1. If I had some cold pork and beans, I would shower you in a million cans of them knowing that they make you feel better. Well, out of the cans, of course- full cans would hurt.

My go-to is knitting. I have a shug that is a simple pattern, hard to mess up, that I can work on when I'm emotional. Not very exciting, I'm afraid.

  3. Raw cookie dough is my go-to comfort food. Cold pork and beans from a can is definitely a healthier choice.

But let's not overlook the big takeaway from today's post. YOU GOT AN OFFER ON THE HOUSE, like, mere hours after it went on the market!!! That's amazing! And whether or not you accept the offer, the fact that you got one (and that you are fielding multiple requests for showings) means that this chapter will reach its conclusion soon, and you'll be on your way to the next adventure!

  4. It sounds like things are moving ahead very well now! It's going to be very cool and exciting.

I have tons of comfort foods, and I probably shouldn't talk about it for fear that I'm going to have to run out and get them all...

  5. I like cold pork a fair amount. Brands not so much.

My self care consists of painting. That's about the only thing that really calms my mind. Writing used to do it but these days writing is a compulsive action that significantly increases my stress level.

  6. I used to eat cold condensed soup right from the can. You're not weird.

My go-to comfort food now is a dish from Indian restaurants (very Americanized, I'm sure, and nothing like its original even if there really is such a dish that's native to India) called malai kofta. Learning that it's also a favorite of my favorite singer/songwriter/guitarist made it even better.

  7. I love refried beans... When I don't feel good I always want bean burritos...and a bubble bath... And to listen to Carry On by Pat Green. That has been my go to since long before the "keep calm and carry on. " Great, it is 5 in the morning and I want some bean burritos now...

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
