Sure, That Works

An old friend of mine shared a post on her Facebook feed today. It's called "Beautiful Advice from a Divorced Man After 16 Years of Marriage."

Divorce: Don sweaters. Gaze into distance. It's just like that.
My first reaction was: "Sixteen years? Bitch, try 25 years."

My second reaction was: "Lol."

I mean, the author makes some good points. Communication is way important.Owning your emotions is way important. Forgiving is...sure, it's important, most of the time. Why not?

But "(C)arry her away in the power of your masculine presence"? and "Don't worry about money"?

Your planet seems nice. Can you actually breathe there?

Seems real.
Protip: Marriage is more complex than that. That being anything you can sum up in an online article.

I'm glad these things work for you, article author.

They mean nothing to the rest of the world.

Here's what makes a marriage work.

I don't fucking know, that's why I'm getting divorced, duh.

Real wisdom, yo.

  1. Your situation isn't funny in the least, but holy shiite did this make me laugh! You want to know the secret to never getting divorced? Don't get married in the first place! That's my plan anyways.

    I love you.

  2. I went to a wedding last year where one of the bridesmaids, in her toast, gave tips and advice for a happy marriage. I found this suspicious, as the bridesmaid in question had never actually been married.

Far be it from me to criticize, though. I hope someone can find advice that works.

You're thinking it, you may as well type it. The only comments you'll regret are the ones you don't leave. Also, replies to threads make puppies grow big and strong.
